We are looking to recruit a Senior Property Lawyer to join our team in St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex. This role is suitable for someone with experience in conveyancing and managing their own caseload.
Key responsibilities of a Senior Property Lawyer
* Manage an average caseload of 50 files, covering all aspects of conveyancing transactions from instruction to completion, registration, and file closure.
* Take instructions, maintain accurate file notes, communicate with clients and third parties, and draft legal documents including standard precedent letters, contract packs, title reports, exchange and completion letters, and Land Registry and HMRC forms.
* Perform Pre-completion, Land Registry, and Conveyancing searches accurately and timely, ensuring the file is ready for exchange and completion with all necessary paperwork and funds in place.
* Handle Post-Completion tasks such as applying to the Land Registry, Stamp Duty Land Tax submissions, and file closures.
* Manage complex transactions like leaseholds, shared ownership, unregistered properties, acting for companies, lease variations/extensions, and new builds. Identify opportunities for personal development and performance improvement.
* Assist with coaching and mentoring of Associates and Property Lawyers.

Skills and experience required
* Qualified candidates with a Law Degree, LPC, Licensed Conveyancer, Solicitor, or Legal Executive (FCILEX) preferred but not essential.
* Significant experience managing a conveyancing caseload and handling complex legal matters.
* Excellent communication skills, good time management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Attention to detail is crucial.
* Self-motivated, able to work independently or as part of a team.
* Knowledge of Case Management Systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is preferred but not essential.
