Bring Reassurance. Empower Independence.
At Hft, a leading social care provider, we stand alongside learning-disabled adults, empowering them to live life their way. As a Casual Night Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring people feel safe, supported, and comfortable throughout the night. On a typical evening you will be sleeping in at one of our homes and you may well not be disturbed throughout the night. However, if one of the people we support needs you during the night, you may be required to be awake and on duty for a few minutes or a couple of hours.
This is more than just being present; it’s about creating a calm, reassuring environment where people can rest well, maintain their routines, and wake ready to live the way they choose. We are looking for individuals who are able to complete one to two sleep in shifts every week. There may be additional daytime hours available covering sickness or annual leave.
You’ll receive £49.08 for each sleep in shift. If you are awake and on duty for more than an hour, you will be paid at the hourly rate of £12.51 + 10% waking night premium (£13.76). This casual colleague agreement will also allow you to work additional daytime hours to cover sickness or annual leave at the hourly rate of £12.51 + 10% waking night premium (£13.76).
What You’ll Be Doing
Every night is different, but your role focuses on empowering independence, choice, and dignity:
* Sleeping in at the service to provide reassurance to the residents
* If required, provide safe, attentive, and person-centred support throughout the night, ensuring comfort, dignity, and wellbeing.
* Respond calmly and proactively to any needs, whether that’s offering reassurance, supporting with personal care, or handling unexpected situations.
* Monitor and record wellbeing, following care plans and reporting any concerns to the daytime team to ensure seamless support.
* Promote independence wherever possible, encouraging confidence in night-time routines and decision-making.
* Create a safe, positive environment where individuals can rest well and wake ready to achieve their goals the next day.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, ensuring consistency and continuity of care between day and night teams.

* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, waking and sleep-in shifts
