Tasks
* Aiding the Head of Procurement and advising on purchasing policy, strategy, and planning.
* Managing purchasing staff, including training, upskilling, developing, and supervising their work.
* Continuously assessing and monitoring staff performance.
* Managing suppliers, maintaining relationships, and monitoring trade agreements.
* Monitoring and managing quality and QA systems adherence.
* Collaborating with other departments to forecast, plan, and meet supply demands in line with quality standards.
* Prioritizing and managing project purchasing.
* Overseeing procurement of specific packages, working with stakeholders to ensure value for money.
* Negotiating and administering purchasing contracts, monitoring their progress.
* Ensuring contractual adherence.
* Incorporating future supplier accreditation requirements aligned with business needs.
* Administering procurement activities and preparing reports and statistics.
* Negotiating payment terms and managing accounts.
* Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, internal departments, and customers.
* Developing market knowledge, establishing contacts for new products and services, and identifying potential suppliers.
* Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors.
* Maintaining contract files for future reference.
* Collaborating with the supply chain management team, including site visits, to ensure suppliers align with business objectives.
* Liaising with end users and relevant parties.
* Leading and attending procurement-related meetings.
* Promoting the use of internal companies as the first principle in procurement.
* Recruiting departmental staff and forecasting demand for services.
* Assisting the supply chain team in monitoring performance, workload, and financial status to safeguard the company's interests.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years of buying experience.
* Experience in managing supply chain events.
* Experience with external tendering processes (e.g., CompeteFor).
* Knowledge and practical understanding of integrated IT systems.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other office applications.
* Experience in construction, engineering, or a similar field.
