What you will be doing
The scope of our operations at the Stevenage site covers the design, manufacture, and testing of spacecraft hardware. As an intern, you will play a key role in supporting the mechanical analysis function throughout your placement year, learning a variety of analysis skills from our experienced engineers.
* Developing analysis tools to improve our processes;
* Performing mechanical analysis to support the design or test phase of ongoing space hardware projects.
This is a hands-on role that offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to real projects and apply your academic knowledge to the practical challenges of space engineering.
Responsibilities
You will typically be involved in the following activities:
* Developing analysis tools to improve processes;
* Performing mechanical analysis to support design or test phases of space hardware projects.
Apply your learning in a real-world setting within a dynamic aerospace team.
Requirements
* Open to Undergraduates only. You must be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.
* Your application should include a CV along with a Cover Letter outlining your motivation and suitability for the role.
* Studying towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering, or similar topics.
* Understanding of the fundamental principles of structural analysis.
* Appreciation of mechanical simulation software.
* Experience with tools for performing and presenting engineering calculations (e.g., MS Excel; MATLAB considered advantageous).
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Some programming skills would be a plus.
Security clearance: You will be subject to a BPSS check. You may also need UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
