Technical Business Analyst – Nottingham (Hybrid)
Up to £65,000 + Benefits
This isn't your average BA role.
And if you're looking for average, you can stop reading now.
Here's why.
When we say
Technical
BA, we mean it. This role blends BA, Product Owner, and Solutions Architect into something unique. You'll sit at the heart of enterprise-level transport technology that connects three big worlds:
* Hardware – the kit that sits on vehicles, trains, buses, trams
* Software – applications delivering insights, experiences, and reporting
* Infrastructure – spanning cloud and on-prem (except in this case, the on-prem actually moves with the vehicle)
This is transport tech at scale. The kind that makes journeys smoother, gives passengers better information, and delivers the data insights that global multinationals, public sector giants, and fast-moving challengers now depend on.
It's niche, it's fascinating, and it's growing.
With AI already embedded through an in-house LLM, this isn't a role about writing endless documentation. AI takes care of the heavy lifting. Your job is to get inside the head of the customer, scope out multi-tier solutions, and work with international teams to deliver them.
One week, you'll be shaping a multi-million-pound solution for Transport for London, Manchester, or New York. The next, you'll be building a tailored solution for an ambitious SME.
It's varied, complex, and full of opportunity to influence the future of digital transport.
What you'll do
* Collaborate with UK and international stakeholders to understand, analyse, and document business requirements
* Work on projects involving on-vehicle and infrastructure tech such as ticketing, scheduling, passenger information, and real-time insights
* Create clear functional and non-functional specifications for development teams
* Contribute to high-quality bid and tender submissions, representing the solutions team with professionalism and authority
* Facilitate meetings and workshops to align teams and clarify objectives
* Support testing and implementation of new systems or processes
* Monitor performance metrics and provide actionable insights
* Work closely with architects, developers, and project managers to ensure solutions fit the bigger technology framework
* Stay close to emerging technologies, best practice, and opportunities to enhance solutions
What you'll bring
* Experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Systems Engineer with a technical focus
* Confidence in conversations that bridge hardware, software, connectivity, and data
* Strong stakeholder management skills, including with senior and international partners
* Problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills that let you hold your own in complex environments
* Familiarity with tools like Excel, SQL, JIRA, Confluence, Power BI, Tableau, or BPMN
You don't need to have a background in transport. It's niche, and you'll learn fast. What matters is being technical, curious, and comfortable connecting the dots between technology and business outcomes.
What's in it for you
* Salary up to £65,000 + benefits
* International travel opportunities
* Extensive product and technology training
* Modern Nottingham HQ with hybrid working
* A collaborative, high-performing team
* A growth path in a global business shaping the future of digital transport
This is one of the most unusual and exciting roles we've seen in a while. You'll sit at the centre of complex technology that's transforming how we all move, work with some of the biggest names in transport, and be part of a team that's investing heavily in innovation.
