Business Development Manager - Engineering / Technical Sales

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join a leading organisation specialising in high performance electrical and fibre optic connectivity solutions.

This strategic sales role focuses on developing and growing key OEM accounts, securing new business opportunities, and delivering sustainable revenue growth across UK and international markets.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical understanding with consultative sales expertise to position advanced engineering solutions within complex technical environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and grow revenue within existing strategic OEM accounts
2. Identify and secure new business opportunities within targeted OEM customers
3. Build and implement structured account plans for key customers
4. Use consultative and value based selling techniques to communicate product and service benefits
5. Develop strong relationships across customer organisations including Engineering, Project Management, and Commercial teams
6. Act as the primary interface between customers and internal business functions
7. Identify and progress sales opportunities while developing effective bid strategies
8. Manage a structured sales pipeline and ensure effective conversion of opportunities
9. Maintain accurate CRM records including account plans, opportunities, and forecasting
10. Gather competitor and market intelligence and provide commercial insight to senior leadership
11. Lead and support the creation, negotiation, and closure of commercial agreements
12. Prepare high quality bid proposals that clearly communicate value propositions
13. Monitor competitor activity and identify risks and growth opportunities within key accounts

15. Sustainable and profitable growth across assigned OEM accounts
16. Consistent pipeline development and conversion
17. Increased penetration within strategic customer accounts
18. Accurate forecasting and disciplined CRM management
19. Expansion of long term strategic customer relationships

Candidate Profile

Education

20. Engineering qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background

Experience

21. Experience within the electrical, electronics, or fibre optic connector industry
22. Proven background in technical or consultative B2B sales
23. Experience working with both engineering and commercial stakeholders

Technical Skills

24. Strong understanding of electronic and engineering based industries
25. Confident using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
26. Experience using CRM systems
