Overview
This post will support a health promotion programme designed to improve uptake of the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (NHS BCSP) across Cheshire & Merseyside, particularly amongst groups with low uptake and high positivity, and to support the roll out of age extension of the screening programme. The post holder will work collaboratively with clinical staff, public health professionals and primary care staff. They will support community engagement activities and support the development of the GP "Call for a Kit Clinic" (CFAKC) project across Cheshire and Merseyside, so access to a car is needed.
Main duties
* Be an effective member of the BCSP Health Promotion team & service and contribute to the development of new and existing health promotion projects, ensuring that a quality service is provided to all service users.
* Coordinate engagement with local GP practices to facilitate CFAKC project in GP practices.
* Provide support to the BCSP Health Promotion Specialist to plan, organise, deliver and evaluate the CFAKC.
* Provide support to input/export data and to support evaluation of the CFAKC project.
* Work with public/health sector partners to plan and engage the voluntary, community and faith sector in promoting the uptake of the BCSP.
* Provide support to local communities to encourage grassroots participation in the BCSP.
* Keep up to date with latest policy developments, nationally and locally with regards to health and social care.
* Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the specific geographical area of work.
* Support initiatives in reducing health inequalities and barriers to screening; raise awareness of the importance of bowel cancer screening.
* Use needs assessment and equity analysis to identify areas and groups with low uptake and develop and deliver evidence-based interventions.

* Be an integral part of a health promotion programme to improve uptake of the NHS BCSP within Cheshire and Merseyside.
* Support needs assessment and equity analyses, monitor uptake and identify areas or groups with low uptake.
* Support targeted health promotion and social marketing initiatives, including social marketing campaigns, to improve uptake among groups with low uptake.

* Develop health promotion materials using a social marketing approach and support activities tailored to designated sub groups to maximise uptake.
* Work proactively with the media and any marketing agency to develop and run targeted media campaigns.
* Support training and development needs of primary care staff, NHS staff, voluntary and community groups for the NHS BCSP and develop, implement and evaluate education programmes to meet identified needs.
Communication
* Liaise with local NHS BCSP, regional programme Hub, NHS BCSP national office, NHSE, Public Health professionals, communications leads, primary care colleagues, other healthcare professionals and the public.
* Provide and receive complex information about the NHS CFAKC Service; persuade, motivate and negotiate with partner agencies and the target group to ensure service success; communicate complex or contentious information sensitively; maintain effective communication links with health professionals, patients and relatives across the health economy.
Clinical Governance / Quality
* Contribute to research, audit and benchmarking to improve NHS BCSP effectiveness; disseminate findings through presentations/publications; comply with policies and guidelines; promote patient and public involvement and equality in the NHS BCSP to avoid health inequalities.

Qualifications
* Essential: GCSE A*- C in English and Maths or equivalent
* Essential: Graduate education or equivalent in Health & Social Care or similar and evidence of ability to work at that level
* Desirable: Level 2 IT (ITQ, ECDL or equivalent)
* Desirable: NVQ level 3 in Community Engagement or equivalent
Experience
* Essential: Working in a multi-agency setting and partnership working
* Essential: Administration experience
* Essential: Leading role in a community setting engaging with the public on a topic
* Essential: Data input and reporting from spreadsheets/databases
