Pastoral Support Officer – Good Secondary School – Wandsworth, South West London Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School Information: This 11–18 Good secondary school in Wandsworth is a dynamic and student-centred environment with a strong reputation for pastoral care, behaviour support and inclusion. The school is known for its high expectations, supportive leadership and ongoing investment in pastoral structures. Students come from a wide range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, creating a vibrant and diverse school community. Behaviour is described as calm and respectful, supported by a clear behaviour policy and consistent staff practice. The school has expanded its pastoral provision in recent years, including new mentoring rooms, wellbeing hubs and intervention spaces. Staff work collaboratively to ensure that every student is supported emotionally, socially and academically. The Pastoral Team works closely with safeguarding leads, attendance officers, heads of year and SEN staff to create a wrap-around support system that ensures early intervention, effective communication with families and a swift response to issues as they arise. The Role: The Pastoral Support Officer will play a central role in supporting the wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of students across KS3–KS4. This is a role that requires emotional intelligence, empathy, patience and consistency. You will work closely with Heads of Year to monitor behaviour patterns, track pastoral concerns, respond to student issues, support restorative conversations and ensure that interventions are followed through. Your day may include checking in with vulnerable students, liaising with teachers about concerns, communicating with parents, completing safeguarding documentation, supporting detentions, monitoring behaviour logs, and ensuring that students are referred to the correct interventions. You will be an approachable and supportive presence for students, helping them to navigate challenges and maintain positive engagement with school. Requirements: • Experience in a pastoral, youth work or school-based role • Strong behaviour management and interpersonal skills • Ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds • Understanding of safeguarding procedures (training provided) • Excellent communication, reliability and resilience • Ability to manage confidential information appropriately Application: To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
