The Pastoral Team works closely with safeguarding leads, attendance officers, heads of year and SEN staff to create a wrap-around support system that ensures early intervention, effective communication with families and a swift response to issues as they arise. The Role: The Pastoral Support Officer will play a central role in supporting the wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of students across KS3–KS4. This is a role that requires emotional intelligence, empathy, patience and consistency. You will work closely with Heads of Year to monitor behaviour patterns, track pastoral concerns, respond to student issues, support restorative conversations and ensure that interventions are followed through. Your day may include checking in with vulnerable students, liaising with teachers about concerns, communicating with parents, completing safeguarding documentation, supporting detentions, monitoring behaviour logs, and ensuring that students are referred to the correct interventions. You will be an approachable and supportive presence for students, helping them to navigate challenges and maintain positive engagement with school.
