Responsibilities
* Author, develop and assess Design Substantiation Documents for major civil and structural assets.
* Manage design changes, concessions and supporting documentation through due process.
* Produce and maintain Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) schedules and associated documentation.
* Review technical reports, safety submissions and provide expert civil/structural input to multidisciplinary teams.
* Present design substantiations to internal review panels and technical assurance groups.
* Develop robust technical justifications for structural design modifications in high‑hazard environments.
* Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and building services engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related discipline).
* Minimum 5 years' experience in the design and assessment of reinforced concrete and steel structures.
* Proven experience producing robust technical justifications for design modifications.
* Incorporated Engineer status (or equivalent experience).
* Experience contributing to multidisciplinary engineering projects.
* Additional qualifications that are welcomed: Chartered Engineer status, experience in marine, defence, nuclear or other high‑hazard industries, familiarity with safety case development techniques such as HAZID/HAZOP, knowledge of relevant design codes and standards for safety‑critical structures.
Position Setting
This full‑time position (40 hours per week) is based on a secure site within a technically advanced infrastructure environment. You will be working within an embedded engineering team providing design assurance, safety justification and technical support to ongoing operations and future development programmes. Due to the nature of the work, the role requires candidates eligible for Security Check (SC) clearance.
