_*Help us make sure our fleet is always ready to roll.*_
Keeping our fleet in good condition takes a skilled and dedicated team. As a Resource Fleet Assistant, you’ll work with a wide range of high spec vehicles in a varied hands-on role.
Our officers need all kinds of vehicles to do their jobs every day. You’ll make sure that each one is clean – inside and out – and in good repair. It’s important that these vehicles are ready whenever they’re needed, so you’ll be conducting under-bonnet checks, inspecting equipment and recording key data such as mileage readings.
You’ll also be responsible for collecting and delivering vehicles to our maintainers who repair and service them. That means you’ll be driving cars and other vehicles to various locations.
To join us, you need to be professional and team-focused, with a valid UK driving licence. With a keen eye for detail, you’ll take pride in maintaining our fleet to the highest standards.
*Key Tasks*
The post holder will be required to do the following:
* Wash exterior and interior of motor vehicles.
* Inspect, when available, vehicles for visual damage and overall condition. Check to see if any damage found has been properly recorded in accordance with MPS instructions. If deemed necessary, make arrangements with the vehicle maintainer to affect repair.
* Conduct maintenance checks e.g. under-bonnet checks on engine oil, coolant and windscreen washer fluid levels etc.
* Liaise closely with the vehicle maintainer to schedule maintenance and track the progress of vehicles undergoing repair or servicing and ensure their prompt return to operational duty. When a vehicle is returned to service, inspect it and ensure that it is being returned in an acceptable condition prior to completing delivery documentation.
* Undertake an inspection of each vehicle’s equipment including first aid kits to ensure that all items which should be present are in place. Any items which require replacement should be replaced.
* Examine, when available but at least once a week, every vehicle’s logbook to ensure the book contains the correct fuel card and report any deficiencies or anomalies.
* Collate vehicle odometer readings, complete the appropriate mileage return form and submit to Fleet Services on the day in question.
* Undertake driving duties, as directed by line management.
*Confidentiality Agreement*
Applicants should also be aware of the need to sign a confidentiality agreement on taking up the post.
