Location: GWR Integrated Control Centre – Swindon
Who are we?
GWR is the proud custodian of Brunel's railway - one of the most prestigious networks in the world. We operate some of the newest trains in the country and have exciting plans to expand our services. With over a hundred million passenger journeys annually, we serve over 275 stations across the South West, including Cornwall, South Wales, London, and top tourist destinations.
Our aim is to transform train travel, empowering a diverse team of over 6,000 employees to provide a great experience for our customers. We seek to revalue rail as a relaxing, fast, efficient, and friendly mode of travel.
About the role:
The role involves ensuring train crew reach their destinations on time, overseeing positions such as Drivers, Guards, and Catering Staff across the GWR network.
You will manage the resource desk operations in a 24/7 roster, working closely with Train Service Delivery and Network Rail colleagues. Responsibilities include service planning, emergency train plans, managing disruptions, supporting colleagues, and administrative tasks.
This is a dynamic, desk-based role requiring the use of specialised railway software. Once on shift, you will oversee crew operations within your assigned network area.
Candidate considerations:
* Are you interested in a demanding role in the rail industry?
* Are you trustworthy and reliable?
* Are you flexible and adaptable to changing demands?
* Can you work independently and as part of a team?
* Do you have resilience to handle pressure and make decisions?
* Can you manage routine tasks alongside changing priorities?
* Are you eager to learn in a fast-paced environment with live desk training?
* Are you committed to skill development and high standards?
If you answered "No" to any, consider if a control-based role suits your strengths. If "Yes" to all, we encourage you to apply.
Minimum eligibility criteria:
* Proactive with good attention to detail
* Knowledge of the GWR network
* Ability to communicate safety-critical information by phone
* Computer literacy in Office 365 (training provided)
* Clear communication and interpersonal skills
* Reliable transportation for commuting, as train services may be unavailable at times
* Willingness to work shifts up to 12 hours, including weekends and holidays
The Reward:
Benefits include ongoing development, a defined benefit pension scheme, free rail travel for you and family, health care, discounts, and an employee assistance program.
