DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Public Works Director and/or Assistant Director, duties include supervisory work assisting in operational activities and in the performance of assigned field personnel in Equipment Operations of Public Works (e.g., dump truck, tractor, bushhog, backhoe, front-end loaders). Assist with other services as necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supervise, coordinate, and perform field activities related to equipment operation for the City; operate light to medium equipment for construction and maintenance. Assist in preparing work schedules, assign and direct crews, prepare reports, maintain records, inspect work, and assist with ordering materials and equipment.
Note: These functions are not exhaustive; employees may be required to perform other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Knowledge of methods and principles of operating medium and heavy construction equipment.
* Ability to prepare work schedules and lead subordinates effectively.
* Skills in preventative maintenance of equipment.
* Knowledge of safety rules and regulations related to equipment operation.
* Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
* Ability to prepare accurate reports and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus four years of responsible experience in Public Works construction and maintenance. Equivalent training, education, or experience may be substituted.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Must possess a valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Successful candidates must pass a drug test and a physical examination aligned with the position's performance criteria.
