Freelance Machinist – Cold On A Sunday
MUST BE BASED IN NE LINCOLNSHIRE – PRIORITY GIVEN TO APPLICANTS CLOSE TO CLEETHORPES DUE TO TURNOVER AND TRAVEL NEEDS
Cold On A Sunday is a slow fashion label rooted in Cleethorpes. Everything we make is designed to last, made in small batches with care and intention. The brand started with a single jacket and has grown steadily, with a focus on honest design, good fabric, and garments that feel lived-in from day one.
Each piece is made close to home, mostly in Manchester and Cleethorpes, by people who believe in doing things properly — not rushing for trends, but building clothes with structure, story and real wear in mind.
Right now, I'm looking for a freelance machinist to join the making team. There's consistent work coming in and this could build into near full-time hours if that's something you're after.
You'd be working across a focused range of around 4 or 5 products — jackets, trousers, vests and accessories — all designed in-house and produced in small, carefully managed batches.
⸻
Pay
• Per garment, at a fixed and fair agreed rate
• Bonus available for hitting output targets per item
⸻
The Work
• Initial intro: we go through each garment together and you make one of each to spec, so we're aligned on process and finish
• After that: I'll deliver batched materials to you
• You'll be sewing from your own workspace and returning completed batches for final checks and delivery
⸻
Skills & Setup
• Confident constructing full garments, especially jackets and trousers
• Experienced using industrial lockstitch and overlocker
• Able to press, finish and QC your own work
• Comfortable reading patterns and sewing notes
• Must have your own industrial setup
• Experience working with linen, cotton twills, wool and denim is a big plus
⸻
YOU MUST BE BASED IN NE LINCOLNSHIRE — ideally within easy reach of Cleethorpes. The nature of the work means I'll need to drop off and collect materials regularly, so location will be a key factor.
If this sounds like your kind of thing, drop me a message with a bit about your experience, your setup, and what your availability looks like.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
