Job Description
As a Trainee Customs Clearance Coordinator, you will oversee the smooth processing of Import/Export Customs Declarations for given customers. This pivotal role requires attention to detail, the ability to work to process while considering continuous improvement. Experience in Excel is an advantage, but the ability to learn new systems and expand basic knowledge is more important. The role requires a strong team ethic but also the ability to work proactively on your own.
Responsibilities
* Complete Import and export customs declarations, following standing or customers’ instructions.
* Manage multiple mailboxes, documents and folders for SCDP or Control Tower customers.
* Issue clearance instructions to express agents.
* Communicate customer‑focused, build excellent internal and external relationships.
* Manage workload, completing all declarations, including IPAFFS, in a timely manner to meet customer KPIs and prioritise urgent requests.
* Maintain and improve knowledge of customs processes and procedures, particularly around CPCCs, HMRC tariff and preferences.
Accountabilities
* Submit customs entries in accordance with clients IOP, in line with current HMRC legislation, using ASM Sequoia.
* Deal with various modes of transport – Road, Sea, Air.
* Handle a variety of commodities and different customs processes such as Homeuse, IP, bonded entries, returned goods.
* Respond to queries quickly and efficiently.
* Verify documents received for customs purposes are compliant and correct.
* Manage own/group email inbox efficiently.
* Communicate with customers via email and telephone.
* Liaise with customs and port authorities.
* Understand incoterms.

* Environment can be stressful due to tight deadlines, but you will be supported by the team and management.
* Some weekend work may be required.
