New and exciting change is taking place in our Sterile Services (TSSU) department at our busy hospital unit in Southampton!
Due to the growing number of treatments we are now providing to patients and the increasing external support we offer to other healthcare centres, our professional and busy Sterile Services department has a new opening for a Sterile Services Technician to join our team and support the Sterile Services Manager in ensuring an effective decontamination and sterile supplies service.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Decontamination Manager, the Sterile Services Technician will be responsible for the reprocessing of reusable medical devices, including washing, disinfecting, and sterilising theatre equipment. You will also handle the decontamination of flexible Endoscopes for our Endoscopy department.
You will help maintain supplies inventories and stock levels, keeping accurate records on our computer system, including daily validation testing and recording.
You will monitor procedures, report malfunctions of sterilizers and washer-disinfectors to the Sterile Services Manager, and record details on forms.
You will participate in planned audits, ensuring equipment is correctly labelled, available, and properly documented when leaving the centre.
The ideal candidate will come from a similar healthcare or surgical background, be a strong team player, and have a good understanding of decontamination processes within a healthcare environment.
