Job Description
Are you a Mechanical Engineer with experience in Mechanical Handling, Remote Operations, or robotics, and thrive on solving complex problems? Do you enjoy working on challenging design projects and aspire to leadership roles guiding projects and junior engineers?
You will be involved in solving key mechanical handling challenges within the energy industry for various clients. Projects may include designing systems for radioactive waste packaging, fuel handling in nuclear reactors, maintenance for fusion reactors, supporting UK submarine and SMR programs, or renewable energy initiatives. The role requires juggling multiple projects, so adaptability is essential. You will contribute to deploying robotics solutions that enhance safety and efficiency in energy production.

Role requirements
* Degree qualified mechanical engineer or relevant qualification
* Experience in designing and validating mechanical handling or robotic systems
* Proficiency in technical report writing and specifications
* Ability to engage with clients, understand their needs, and work on-site
* Experience in regulated environments and QA processes
Additional skills (preferred but not mandatory)
* Nuclear industry experience
* Design of heavy machinery and handling equipment
* Automation and robotic technology expertise
* Experience with safety-critical bids and design codes (e.g., BS EN13001, BS 2573, ASME B30)
* CAD skills, especially Autodesk Inventor
* Knowledge of hand calculations and tools like MATHCAD
* Chartered status or near completion
