Senior ICT Consultant
Location: Buckinghamshire & Berkshire
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 (annual, full time)
Turn IT On is currently seeking an experienced ICT Consultant / Senior ICT Technician who is motivated and enthusiastic about technology. The ideal candidate should have a strong willingness to learn and a passion for providing exceptional service to our customers while supporting an expanding team that works with schools in and around Buckinghamshire.
This role will involve supporting a Trust of primary schools. You will act as the liaison between the schools and Turn IT On, ensuring they are kept informed about the products and services we can provide and managing customer accounts. Your work will include maintaining IT hardware and software across school sites to improve their ICT provision and enable effective teaching and learning through ICT solutions.
To be suitable for this role you should:
- Have a passionate interest in IT and a solid technical background.
- Be self‑driven, enthusiastic about offering exceptional customer service, and a team player with excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Be able to liaise regularly with senior school management and manage third‑line support issues independently.
- Have at least 2–3 years of experience in a senior ICT technician or second/third line support role within the education sector (although not essential).
- Exhibit a proactive attitude toward troubleshooting and identifying ways to enhance services.
Responsibilities
* Handle second/third line issues, respond to ICT emergencies and school complaints.
* Resolve and manage any technical issues that impact the running of the school’s functions.
* Provide internal network support.
* Support and mentor first and second line roles.
* Enforce and monitor compliance with School policies.
* Provide internal staff training.
* Lead on the installation or repair of computers, standardised applications and networking software, diagnosing and solving problems.
* Manage a wide range of technical duties associated with the computer network and desktop services, including desktop computers, iPads, printers, telephones, scanners, projectors, and AV equipment.
Skills & Abilities
* Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft Operating Systems.
* Virtualisation Technologies – particularly Hyper‑V.
* Cloud Technologies – Office 365/Azure.
* Experience leading on installations of servers and networks.
* Ability to make proactive decisions when an ICT emergency occurs.
* Outstanding customer service with positive and proactive communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Flexible, adaptable and friendly.
* Excellent team player, able to work independently and plan own time effectively.
Other Requirements
The role is full‑time, full year. Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS and safeguarding checks. Due to the location of the schools, you must be able to drive and have your own vehicle.
