Band 6 Diabetes CNS
Location: Cross-site working across Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Main duties of the job
A Band 6 CNS is required to work with the specialist in-patient diabetes team looking after patients either admitted as a result of their diabetes or whose diabetic control required review whilst an in-patient. The work will be ward based and you will form part of an MDT looking at and adjusting the diabetic management of these patients.
What we are looking for:
1. Excellent clinical skills with the ability to work both as part of an MDT but also autonomously at times.
2. Good communication skills for both patient education but also staff education and escalation.
3. Strong time management skills and an ability to prioritise workload

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
7. Registered nurse / current NMC registration
Desirable criteria
8. Additional post graduate learning in specialist field including master’s degree or working towards
9. ENB 998 or teaching qualification
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
10. Post registration experience of managing patients with Diabetes
11. Experience of teaching and mentorship for learners and peers
12. Experience of planning/implementing or evaluating change within healthcare
13. Working knowledge of the NHS and of the role of the band 6 nurse within it
Desirable criteria
14. Management of own caseload
15. Diabetes based research project
16. DAFNE trained
17. DESMOND trained
18. Previous experience of delivering type 1 education programmes
19. Experience of CSII
20. Experience of starting and managing people on flash glucose meters/ smart meters
