We are looking for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) therapists to join the Canopi team in School of Medicine, based at the Hadyn Ellis Building, Cathays campus.
In This Role, You Will
* Provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for Canopi clients, delivered via telephone, online and in person
* Able to demonstrate expert professional knowledge around CBT best practices and be recognised as an authority in the field.
* Participate and support supervision within the CBT team.
We’d Like To Hear From You If You
* Are a British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) accredited therapist or clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) with an experience of working as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) practitioner with a wide variety of clinical presentations
* Have substantial experience of managing patients within statutory services and mental health pathways and experience of supporting patients from the NHS and voluntary sector.
* Have experience of contributing to best practice within a mental health service

This post is full time (35 hours per week), available immediately and fixed-term until 31 March 2027.
Part-time working will be considered. In supporting our employees to achieve a balance between their work and their personal lives, we will also consider proposals for flexible working or job share arrangements.
Salary: £51,039 - £55,755 per annum (Grade 7). Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.
This role is eligible to be offered on a blended working basis, meaning that as well as spending time working on campus you may spend some time working from another location, e.g. your home. Job Description
Job Purpose
Support the University within the Canopi service to deliver 1:1 individual CBT interventions to Canopi clients, providing advice, guidance and support, and leading projects within this area
Duties And Responsibilities
Key Duties
* Provide time-limited (maximum 8 sessions) CBT therapy to Canopi clients. Sessions are delivered via telephone, online and in person according to client preference.
* Ensure that Canopi policies and procedures are followed, specifically in relation to data protection and safeguarding, responding in a timely manner to issues that arise.
* Undertake a variety of administrative duties to ensure that client records and data are kept up to date and ensuring that outcome measures are completed for clients and used to support the client’s CBT sessions.
* Ensure the maintenance of excellent standards of practice, observing BABCP ethical framework and/or other guidance, and keeping up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the Department of Heath
* Take responsibility for resolving issues independently within client CBT sessions, where they fall within set role objectives, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action and ensuring complex and conceptual issues and solutions are understood by clients
* Contribute to the development of best practice within the service creating recommendation and supporting advances within the Canopi service.
* Establish relationships with key contacts to ensure role objectives are meet, developing appropriate communication links with the University’s Schools/Directorates and outside bodies as required
* To actively engage in ongoing personal and professional development, making full use of
supervision, appraisal, and learning opportunities. Participate and support supervision within the Canopi CBT team.
* Instruct and guide other employees within the Canopi service as required.
* Develop and deliver training around CBT to the wider Canopi team

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Qualifications And Education
* BABCP accredited CBT qualification or Postgraduate doctorate in clinical psychology or equivalent with ability to deliver CBT therapy. Registered with the BABCP as a CBT therapist or HCPC to practice as a clinical psychologist in the UK.
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
* Substantial experience of managing patients within statutory services, mental health pathways and supporting patients from the NHS and voluntary sector.
* Able to demonstrate expert professional knowledge around CBT practices, to be recognised as an authority in the field
* Proven experience of conducting assessments for service, including initial assessments and comprehensive risk and safeguarding assessments
Customer Service, Communication and Team Working
* Able to influence senior decisions and contribute to the development of best practice within the Canopi service
* Evidence of ability to explore patient/clients’ needs, adapt the service, and set patient/client expectations
* Proven ability to develop networks in order to contribute to long term developments
Planning, Analysis and Problem solving
* Evidence of ability to effectively manage a case load and ensure all client records are kept up to date
* Evidence of demonstrable knowledge of key advances within specialist discipline, ensuring you are following current evidence-based practices
* Evidence of ability to undertake and deliver specific projects and supervise short term project teams’
Desirable Criteria
* Experience of working in a Higher Education environment
* Fluency in Welsh, written and oral
* Substantial experience of working as a CBT practitioner with a wide variety of clinical presentations
