Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Engineering Stores Person with a strong sound engineering background to manage and control engineering spares inventory at one of our Insites based on Trafford Park, Manchester. The ideal candidate will have hands-on knowledge of mechanical components, particularly belts, bearings, and associated consumables, ensuring efficient stock management, accuracy, and timely availability to support maintenance operations.Key Responsibilities Stores & Inventory Management Receive, inspect, and accurately record incoming engineering components and materialsMaintain organised storage of spare parts with clear identification and labellingMonitor stock levels and ensure optimum inventory of critical sparesConduct regular stock checks, cycle counts, and full inventory auditsUpdate and maintain stock records using a CMMS or stock control systemEngineering Spares Handling Identify and issue appropriate parts including: Bearings (ball, roller, pillow block, etc.)Drive belts (V-belts, timing belts, conveyor belts)Seals, chains, sprockets, and mechanical fastenersInterpret engineering drawings, part numbers, and specificationsEnsure correct handling and storage conditions to preserve part integrityTechnical Support Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to understand requirementsProvide technical support in identifying suitable replacement partsAssist in sourcing equivalent or alternative components where requiredHelp reduce downtime by ensuring critical spares availabilityProcurement & Supplier Liaison Raise purchase requisitions for stock replenishmentLiaise with suppliers for pricing, specifications, and deliveryEvaluate quality and suitability of incoming engineering componentsHealth, Safety & Compliance Ensure safe handling, storage, and movement of materialsMaintain clean, safe, and organised stores environmentFollow company procedures and health & safety regulationsSkills & Experience Required Proven experience in a stores, warehouse, or engineering environmentStrong engineering knowledge, particularly mechanical componentsGood understanding of bearings, belts, power transmission, and sparesAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and specificationsExperience using inventory systems or CMMSHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailGood organisational and communication skillsDesirable Qualifications Engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent)Forklift licence (desirable but not essential)Experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or industrial environmentsKey Attributes Practical, hands-on mindsetProactive and problem-solving approachAbility to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environmentStrong team player with the ability to work independentlyTPBN1_UKTJ
