Fire & Security Maintenance & Installation Engineer | Essex, Central, East & North London | Full Time | £45,000–£60,000 per annum Our client is a family-run company offering a wide range of bespoke electronic fire, security, and infrastructure solutions to both commercial and domestic properties, mainly within London and the Home Counties, but also throughout the UK. You do not need to have experience in every discipline — candidates with at least 3 areas of expertise listed below will be considered. Proven experience installing, maintaining, and servicing a range of fire and/or security systems Hands-on experience with fire alarm systems (addressable and conventional) from manufacturers such as Advanced, Kentec, C-Tec, Gent, and Morley Experience installing and programming intruder alarm systems, including Orisec, Texecom, Pyronix, and Honeywell Galaxy Experience with CCTV systems (IP and analogue), including Hikvision Experience with Access Control systems such as Paxton Net2, Paxton10, ACT, Switch2, Videx, and CAME BPT Competence with emergency lighting systems and AOV systems to EN 12101 standards Networking knowledge for IP-based systems (switches, PoE, VLAN setup, remote connectivity) – desirable Experience configuring monitoring solutions with ARC signalling equipment (DualCom, Emizon, CSL, CM2 Orisec) – desirable Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills under time pressure Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications accurately Excellent client liaison and communication skills, delivering high-quality customer service Ability to work independently or as part of a team Strong health & safety awareness, including carrying out risk assessments and method statements A full UK driving licence What will your role look like? Install and maintain fire alarm systems (addressable and conventional) from manufacturers such as Advanced, Kentec, C-Tec, Gent, and Morley Install and program intruder alarm systems, including Orisec, Texecom, Pyronix, and Honeywell Galaxy Install and service CCTV systems (IP and analogue), including Hikvision Install and configure Access Control systems such as Paxton Net2, Paxton10, ACT, Switch2, Videx, and CAME BPT Work with emergency lighting systems and AOV systems to EN 12101 standards Configure networking for IP-based security systems, including switches, PoE, VLAN setup, and remote connectivity (where applicable) Set up monitoring solutions with ARC integration and signalling equipment (DualCom, Emizon, CSL, CM2 Orisec) Perform fault finding and rectification under time pressure, read technical drawings, and follow specifications accurately Provide excellent customer service and client liaison, maintaining clear communication and minimal disruption Follow all health & safety procedures, including risk assessments and method statements What can you expect in return? Competitive salary based on skills, experience, and capability: £45,000–£60,000 per annum Company van or car 28 days holiday including bank holidays On-call allowance: £300 per week (mostly remote resets via laptop; if attendance is required, travel is paid door-to-door ) Overtime paid at double time on Sundays Priced overtime work can receive 2x or 3x standard rates Travel paid after 60 minutes each way, outside normal working hours Minimum of four training sessions per year after probation (FIA units, manufacturer courses, etc.) What’s next?
