An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager on IAAU/SDEC. IAAU/SDEC is an acute assessment unit and same day emergency care unit within the acute and emergency care group. This ward supports a wide range of patients with an EDD of 4-24 hours. IAAU is a 26 bedded area for rapid assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with view to admit, utilise OPAT or virtual wards, or discharge. SDEC is a same day emergency care unit with 28 waiting chairs and 8 treatment chairs to rapid assess, diagnose and treat and aim to discharge the same day.
The role will provide opportunity to widen your clinical skill set and clinical knowledge regarding efficient discharge, and to develop leadership skills including people management and ensuring high standards of care. The successful candidate will be supported within the role with a full orientation and competency package and will be developed to their needs.
Responsibilities
 * Provide clinical leadership, support and supervision to the ward team, working closely with the Ward Manager.
 * Ensure standards of care, patient safety and safe practice are maintained in a fast-paced environment.
 * Coordinate safe, effective and high-quality care and contribute to clinical governance development.
 * Develop knowledge and skills in clinical governance and adhere to expected professional standards at all times.
Qualifications and Skills
 * Highly motivated, enthusiastic, organised and dynamic individual with an interest in developing leadership skills within the ward.
 * Ability to work with the Ward Manager to support the team and deliver high-quality patient care.
