Main duties of the job
Carry out those activities involved when conducting the comprehensive assessment nursing requirements.
Undertake the essential nursing assessment of the Trauma & Orthopaedics, taking into account all the activities of daily living.
Undertake relevant risk assessments in order to inform the care needs of Trauma & Orthopaedics.
Recognise the significance of the observations made and use these to develop an initial nursing assessment and recognising Patients Deterioration.
Work under the guidance of the Ward Sister contributing to the safe and effective running of the service. Have the ability of taking on extra management responsibilities under the guidance of the ward sister

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TR
Essential criteria
11. RN (adult)
12. Degree in related field (or equivalent)
13. Relevant post registration experience
Desirable criteria
14. Completion of appropriate management and leadership programme
15. Teaching and assessment recognised qualification
16. Recognised communication skills.
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
17. Previous experience of working with orthopaedic patients or in a surgery setting
18. Experience of working with patients following surgery and providing personal care
19. Experience at a band 5 level within a related field.
20. Previous experience in teaching mentoring and coaching

21. Evidence of working in a busy environment

22. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate on the telephone and face to face with patients, and colleagues, and be able to respond to those who may experience communication difficulties through language or understanding

26. Physical ability and endurance to work in the physical environment of the clinical area required by this post

37. The post holder may be required to work across all sites and will be required to travel between sites in a timely manner
