The CFO Practice is recruiting a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a high-growth, technology-enabled B2B business based in Birmingham. With current revenues of £10m and a strong customer base developed over the last 10 years, a new CEO has recently been appointed to drive a rapid program of development and improved profitability through organic growth and M&A.
The CFO will work alongside the CEO and Executive team to drive the continued commercialisation of the business, developing financial insight, leading M&A growth initiatives, and building a scalable accounting function that enables the company to continue its development.
What you’ll be responsible for:
Own and develop the accounting function of the business
Manage the budgeting process and work alongside the CEO regarding the Strategic Plan
Ensure the annual statutory and monthly management accounts are prepared on a timely basis, and manage the relationship with the external auditors
Take the lead on all tax; credit decisioning; funding & company secretarial matters
In liaison with the CEO and Executive team, take the lead on identifying and pursuing acquisition opportunities for the business. Take the lead on associated due diligence and deal completion matters
Provide insight to the business by marrying the financial and operational data of the business and working with the Executive Team to provide solutions to enhance the business performance.
Develop a high-performing team, automating processes where possible.
Champion the business in the market as an innovative leader on finance-related matters
Current key focuses include:
Acquisition pipeline management: prioritising targets and organising the approach to owners.
Funding: debt and equity for acquisitions.
Insight: ensuring the business understands the financial dynamics in sufficient depth.
First statutory audit: H1 2026.
This role is ideal for a finance leader who:
A Qualified accountant educated to degree level, ideally from an accounting practice background
Confident in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Data-aware, able to interpret financial and operational metrics to give insights/solutions to improve results.
Exposure to M&A work either through deal completion or due diligence participation
Understanding of what is required to deliver an ‘in control’ accounting system
Creative in approach, always looking for new, outside-the-box ways to deliver solutions
Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to personal development through ongoing learning and upskilling.
Collaborative and confident working closely with stakeholders across all levels.
