Are you a calm, confident, and resilient individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs?

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brentwood is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their specialist SEN provision from September on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support within a structured and nurturing environment.

The school has a strong reputation for its inclusive ethos, supportive leadership team, and commitment to ensuring every child is given the tools and encouragement they need to succeed.

About the Role

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils within the SEN provision who require additional support with emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement in learning.

You will play a key role in helping children develop positive coping strategies, build trusting relationships, and access learning in a safe and structured environment. Working alongside teachers, SENCOs, and support staff, you will help create consistency, routine, and positivity throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils within the SEN provision with behavioural and emotional needs
  • Building strong, positive, and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Promoting positive behaviour and reinforcing expectations
  • Supporting pupils to regulate emotions and manage behaviour appropriately
  • Assisting with learning activities and classroom engagement
  • Supporting transitions, routines, and structured interventions
  • Working closely with teaching staff and the SEN team
  • Helping to maintain a calm, safe, and supportive environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people with behavioural or SEN needs
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to remain positive and consistent in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Experience within a school or similar setting is highly desirable
