A Supported Living Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring that supported living services and their facilities are safe, well-maintained, and fully operational.
They play a vital role in promoting the safety, comfort, and dignity of the individuals we support, as well as providing a safe working environment for colleagues.
Their work includes routine maintenance checks, timely repairs, and accurate record-keeping to ensure that every home remains a safe and welcoming place.
It’s important that Supported Living Maintenance Technicians serve as positive role models and can carry out a variety of practical tasks such as decorating, gardening, basic plumbing, and general repairs.
Having a 17th Edition Electrical Certificate is advantageous but not essential. If you don’t already have it, we’d encourage you to be willing to work towards it.
You’ll also need to demonstrate a broad skill set to meet the expectations of this role. Essential skills include:
* Practical experience across a range of maintenance tasks as listed in the job description
* A working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation
* The ability to follow organisational policies and procedures
* Confidence in using a variety of hand tools and equipment
Highly desirable skills include:
* The ability to work independently while meeting deadlines and targets
* Strong time management and the ability to prioritise and delegate tasks effectively
* Clear written and verbal communication, with strong interpersonal skills
* Experience working alongside or supervising external contractors
* Confidence in advising and supporting others with maintenance-related issues
