Description
A great opportunity to get involved right at the heart of student sport at the University of Surrey as Head of Tennis. The University has recently opened a state-of-the-art, three-court indoor dome, complementing our existing five outdoor courts at Surrey Sports Park.
Team Surrey is actively seeking to recruit a Head of Tennis to promote student tennis participation and support our community tennis initiatives.
The role involves developing and implementing a new tennis strategy, focusing on expanding the university's tennis program to achieve our goal of upgrading from an LTA Tier 2 to Tier 3 site.
You will also be responsible for maximizing facility usage and creating additional income streams through the indoor dome by building partnerships with stakeholders such as The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), local tennis clubs, schools, colleges, and the wider community.
Responsibilities include:
1. Implementing the tennis strategy and increasing active participation within the university.
2. Attracting high-level tennis athletes to study and compete, aiming for 200 athletes on our Dual Career Programme by 2028.
3. Providing pathways for students and external professionals in officiating, coaching, and support roles.
4. Creating sustainable revenue streams for the indoor dome throughout the year.
5. Offering inclusive tennis programs, including coaching, practice sessions, camps, matches, and tournaments.
The role includes approximately 15 hours of on-court coaching per week, with the remaining time dedicated to strategic growth to engage 12,000 students in Team Surrey by 2028.
