The DischargeUnit at Barnsley hospital helps facilitate approximately 850 discharges permonth. We have 6 bedded cubicles and can sit up to, a further 20 patients. Wecontinue all aspects of patient care whilst they await medication and transporthome.
The DischargeUnit has recently become a 24/7 Unit to help ease bed pressures. We now havepatients who stay overnight, who have a predicted date of discharge thefollowing day.
We play a keyrole in patient flow working at a fast pace whilst ensuring all patients have asafe and efficient discharge back into the community.
The working pattern is12.5hr shifts 7 days a week including BHs. Covering hours 0800-2030.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastichighly motivated band 2 CSW with excellent communication skills.
You will bepart of team aiming for an efficient safe discharge of patients back into thecommunity
On a day to day basis, your role willbe, ensuring the in-patients on the Unit are cared for. You will assist theband 5 and band 3s in providing high quality care whilst they await theirdischarge.
Yourrole will also include, collecting medically fit patients from the wards andescorting them down to the Discharge unit to await medications and transporthome. You will then care for these patients whilst they are on the Unit. Youwill need to have a keen attitude to learning show unitive and be flexiblewithin your working day.
