Oxclose Community Academy, part of Laidlaw Schools Trust, is seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Pupil Welfare and Engagement Liaison Officer to join our pastoral team.
This important role focuses on improving pupil welfare, fostering sustained engagement in education, and providing targeted support for pupils at risk of disengagement. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting young people through important educational transitions, from primary to secondary school and from secondary to post-16 destinations.
What you will do:
* Provide pastoral support to pupils, especially those who are vulnerable or at risk of exclusion.
* Work closely with school leaders, the safeguarding team, and external agencies to monitor welfare and implement effective interventions.
* Develop strong, supportive relationships with pupils and their families to encourage regular attendance and positive behaviour.
* Support pupils in identifying and pursuing appropriate post-16 pathways, including further education, apprenticeships, and training opportunities.
* Help deliver wellbeing initiatives and social/emotional learning activities.
* Track attendance, punctuality, and behaviour data to identify concerns and implement timely support strategies.
* Liaise with multi-agency partners to provide additional resources and support for pupils.
What you will need:
* Experience working with young people in an educational, pastoral, or welfare-focused role.
* Proven ability to support vulnerable or at-risk pupils with attendance, behaviour, or emotional challenges.
* Strong relationship-building and communication skills with pupils, families, and external partners.
* Organised, resilient, and proactive with excellent problem-solving abilities.
