Our client, a leading defence company, is looking for an experienced Software Asset Controller to join their team on a contract basis.

Software Asset Controller
Duration: 6-month contract
The Software Asset Controller will provide full Software Asset Management (SAM) lifecycle services, including software acquisition, commercial review, license management, and technology roadmaps. Experience supporting supplier contract management, negotiation of commercial terms, including software license loans and agreements, is essential.
The main point of contact for programme software lifecycle and support supply chain commercial requirements across UK business units.
Responsibilities include:
Software Licence Risk Review & Procurement
* Review and assess software license terms and risks
* Ensure compliance with legal, commercial, and future license obligations
* Manage license orders, renewals, and procurement following COTS procedures
* Support procurement of COTS/FOSS software and address IPR, EAR, and ITAR issues
Software Asset Management
* Oversee software assets and licenses throughout the lifecycle
* Manage software inventory from procurement to deployment, including development and production use
* Support creation of license Bills of Materials (BoMs) in Oracle ERP
* Conduct audits to reconcile installed vs. purchased licenses and ensure compliance
* Provide KPI and license status reports
* Support customer equipment issuance
Commercial Support
* Draft, negotiate, and manage subcontract commercial agreements and proposals
* Ensure adherence to corporate standards in contracts and negotiations
* Expertise in T&Cs, software licensing (COTS/FOSS), leasing, and loan agreements
* Resolve contractual issues in line with business procedures
What we are looking for in you:
* Experience in software asset management (SAM)
* Experience in software procurement and End User License Agreements (EULA)
* Commercial acumen
* Legal knowledge and application of EULA (desirable)
* Understanding of procurement laws and regulations
* Proficiency with IT systems and Microsoft Office suite
