Debt Recovery Solicitor
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Debt Recovery Solicitor to join our client, a successful and respected law firm. The successful candidate will manage and progress a portfolio of debt recovery cases on behalf of corporate and individual clients, provide expert legal advice, ensure effective resolution of outstanding debts, and supervise a small team of junior solicitors or paralegals.
Debt Recovery Solicitor - Key Responsibilities
1. Manage and progress a caseload of debt recovery matters from pre-action through to enforcement.
2. Advise clients on their rights, obligations, and recovery strategies under relevant legislation.
3. Draft and issue letters of claim, court proceedings, and associated legal documentation.
4. Negotiate settlements and payment arrangements with debtors where appropriate.
5. Attend court hearings, mediations, and other proceedings as required.
6. Supervise, mentor, and support junior solicitors or paralegals within the team.
7. Liaise with enforcement agents, bailiffs, and other third-party service providers.
8. Keep clients informed of progress and provide regular reports.
9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all cases.
10. Stay informed on changes in legislation and case law relevant to debt recovery.
Essential Skills & Experience
11. Qualified solicitor with current practising certificate.
12. Proven experience in debt recovery, litigation, or commercial law.
13. Strong understanding of debt recovery procedures and relevant legislation (e.g., Civil Procedure Rules, Insolvency Act).
14. Excellent drafting, negotiation, and team management skills.
15. Ability to manage a high-volume caseload effectively.
16. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
17. Client-focused with a professional approach to resolving disputes.
