A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Development Technician within our Test & Validation department, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for maintaining facilities and supporting the build, installation, and testing of gas turbines. Working within a DSEAR-controlled environment, you will contribute to the department’s mission to deliver innovative engineering solutions that enable the validation of both current and evolving products.
Your day will involve hands-on technical work, collaborating closely with engineers, and supporting testing activities that push the boundaries of product development and performance.
How You’ll Make an Impact
1. Install mechanical instrumentation such as thermocouples, strain gauges, and pressure tappings onto rig and engine hardware.
2. Support engine and rig builds by working alongside engineers to ensure safe and robust installation of instrumentation.
3. Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues using a practical and investigative approach.
4. Machine components as required using workshop equipment.
5. Assist in developing new measurement methods and improving testing capabilities within the department.
6. Identify and implement improvements to facilities, ensuring equipment remains safe, compliant, and operational.
7. Support development and production engine tests, as well as rig testing activities across the department.
8. Work with the Thermal Paint Laboratory, training to prepare and apply specialist coatings to components.
What You Bring
9. Technical background with an HNC or equivalent demonstrable experience.
10. Experience working with rotating equipment.
11. Hands-on machining or workshop experience, such as milling, turning, fabrication, or similar.
12. Strong practical problem-solving skills with a curious and proactive mindset.
13. Ability to work effectively within a team in a hands-on engineering environment.
14. Full valid driving license
