School Caretaker/ Premises Assistant

Location: Penarth, Cardiff

Salary: £98.72/ day

Contract Type: Full time

We are looking for a reliable and dedicated caretaker to become a part of our multidisciplinary school team. The role involves working Monday-Friday and ensuring the school grounds are kept safe and maintained. Ysgol Y Deri is a specialist school for pupils aged 3–19, supporting learners with a wide range of additional needs. The school provides a high-quality, inclusive environment with modern facilities, where every pupil is supported as an individual to help them develop, achieve, and thrive.

About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a reliable and proactive Premises Coordinator (Caretaker) to support the day-to-day running, maintenance, and security of the school’s sites.

Key responsibilities include:

* Opening and closing school buildings and ensuring site security
* Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs
* Responding to maintenance issues and emergencies
* Supporting health and safety compliance across all sites
* Maintaining a safe, clean, and functional environment for pupils, staff, and visitors

This role involves working across multiple school sites, requiring flexibility and strong organisational skills.
