Description
The job itself
Hi! We're a family looking for a kind, patient, and fun support worker to help our amazing 6-year-old daughter. She's autistic and doesn't use words to talk, but she has the biggest personality - full of energy, imagination, and curiosity! She loves play, movement, and exploring the world in her own way.
We'd love someone who can help her feel safe and happy, both at home and when we go out for adventures.
What You'll Do
1. Spend time 1:1 with her (you won't be looking after other children at the same time).
2. Get to know her at home first, then help her enjoy trips like swimming, soft play, climbing, or walks.
3. Join in with her play and help her feel calm when things get overwhelming.
4. Support her with eating, changing, and toileting when needed.
5. Use simple tools like pictures or gestures to help her communicate.
6. Follow routines and strategies we’ll share with you so she feels secure.
About Her
She's a bright, determined little girl who loves playful, low-pressure time. She doesn't speak, but she's very expressive and will let you know what she needs if you pay attention to her cues. She enjoys sensory activities - things like movement, deep pressure hugs, and gentle play.
Sometimes she can get frustrated or overwhelmed, so we need someone who can stay calm and help her feel safe.
