Overview
The Dermatology Department provides a comprehensive range of dermatology services to in-patients and out-patients. The department is staffed by three consultant dermatologists and a locum consultant, an associate specialist doctor, a specialty doctor, a specialist registrar, a clinical fellow, a CT 1/2 and two clinical assistants. Successful candidates will have built-in sessions to attend monthly clinical meetings at Oxford.
The department has an integrated consultant- and nurse-led dermatology unit, providing improved facilities on one site. There are no dedicated dermatology beds but there is ready access to beds on the general medical wards. A clinical genetics service is available on site provided by a consultant clinical geneticist (Dr Carmichael). We also have an insourcing company providing weekend services covering clinics and procedures to provide extra capacities. In addition, the maxillofacial unit provides help and support for patients with head and neck skin tumours. A skin cancer MDT is held weekly. The successful candidate will complement and support the existing consultant dermatologists, medical and nursing staff for the population of South Northamptonshire.
