We're looking for a talented and experienced person to join our team in Guildford and to make a positive impact within our growing business. Managing the bid process from pre-construction through to successful award for projects up to £35m. Purpose To Manage the individual project bid process to ensure that a properly considered and co-ordinated bid can be presented for adjudication. Key Responsibilities Establish and request all necessary resources to be provided to suit the particular tender, prior to bid commencement date. Check and acknowledge tenders documents and amendments Ensure that details are entered on RIMS, additionally programme and monitor staff resource Arrange tender launch meeting Produce a Bid Strategy and brief tender team Ensure correct selection of subcontractors and suppliers for key packages Organise distribution of tender documents/amendments for appropriate parties Arrange tender submission document production and checking Ensure appropriate member of bid team answers queries from sub contractors/suppliers Arrange site visits as necessary Ensure risk analysis and Risk register are produced Request further information from Client/Design Team and arrange meeting if required Internal meetings to review design alternatives/value management Ensure pricing reflects the proposed methodology Agree proposed Prelims Liaise with builders conference Attend Adjudication meeting Co-ordinate post tender negotiations with client Ensure final 'Green Sheet' is fully distributed prior to adjudication Maintain/pursue business development opportunities Ensure that final tender information is entered on RIMS Attend hand over meeting and brief team on tender bid Organise and lead Design Team meetings, D&B (if no Design Manager involved) Undertake project debrief, eliciting feedback from sites, to improve construction Manage second stage Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications: Knowledge Knowledge of bid management and production Knowledge of the construction industry Knowledge of pricing and costing Knowledge of best practice Skills: Project Management Bid Strategy, production and process Excellent communicator both internally and externally Negotiation and presentation skills Risk Analysis People and Team Management Judgement - Understanding of complex project documentation and ability to draft papers clearly expressing a position on commercial issues. Planning - Formulation of strategies and tactics for projects and issues. Risks - Ability to assess, understand and communicate project risks, clearly identifying relative significances Proposals - Clear expression of proposals for added value in bids Budget Control - Management of bid costs, budgets and to ensure that over recoveries are achieved. Organisation requirements: Change & Innovation - is adaptable and open to new ways of working. Ability to think of new innovative ways of looking at problems, stands back from the detail to identify patterns or connections between situations that are not obviously relate Developing People - Facilitates the learning and development of self and others, adapting approach and leadership style to the situation. Communication and Influence - Ability to work with and manage multiple client, consultan and internal stakeholders. Able to solve client problems and also push back on clients whe needed. Ability to proactively resolve the numerous conflicting priorities and positions within the stakeholders. Building Confidence - Ability to generate a shared sense of purpose and commitment to the vision and values; promotes the effectiveness of the team by providing support and encourages others to contribute to the best of their ability. Stakeholder Focus - Acts to anticipate, meet and exceed the needs and expectations of stakeholders. Results Orientation & Goal Setting - Ability to continually improve personal and team performance through effective use of targets, regular measurement and timely reviews; introducing significant improvements to processes and practices.
