A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Swindon is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a nurturing mainstream environment, providing targeted 1:1 support to pupils who require additional help to thrive in the classroom.
About the Role - SEN Teaching Assistant - Swindon
You will be supporting pupils who require additional support with their special educational needs. The role focuses on building strong, trusting relationships, supporting engagement with learning, and promoting emotional regulation and confidence.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing 1:1 support to pupils
* Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs
* Supporting emotional regulation and classroom engagement
* Encouraging communication, confidence, and independence
* Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
* Creating a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
The Ideal Candidate:
* Empathetic, patient, and resilient
* Passionate about SEN, inclusion, and child development
* A strong communicator with the ability to build rapport quickly
* Experience supporting children with SEN (desirable but not essential)
* Background in Education, Psychology, Care, or similar (beneficial)
Candidates with experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or those from care, youth work, or support work backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply. Experience working with children with additional needs in a primary setting is advantageous but not essential.
