To be considered for the role, you’ll require the following essentials: Proven background in mechanical fitting, ideally within heavy industry or bespoke machinery environments Strong knowledge of gearboxes, motors, bearings, couplings, shafts, and related assemblies Able to confidently read mechanical/technical drawings and schematics Good welding skills (MIG & Stick essential; TIG would be a bonus) Basic hydraulic knowledge beneficial but not essential A flexible approach – willingness to travel to client sites and work occasional overtime A full UK driving licence preferred Within this position, you’ll also be: Assemble, install, and commission cable-handling systems including winders and payoffs Maintain and service a range of bespoke mechanical machinery and systems Read and interpret technical drawings and liaise with design engineers to ensure accurate builds Perform fabrications and light machining based on detailed engineering specs Carry out MIG and Stick welding on steel components Travel to customer sites as required for installations, breakdown response, and planned maintenance Diagnose faults, strip down equipment, and perform precise mechanical repairs and rebuilds Follow all health and safety procedures, ensuring your work meets quality and compliance standards Talk Staff Recruitment is an established division of Talk Staff Group and works with companies throughout the East Midlands and UK with roles including many areas such as: Accountancy & Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Contact Centre and Office Support.
