We are recruiting a Domestic Assistant to join our team at Brookside Centre, Cumbria. This post will be offered at Part Time, 15 hours per week.
Our team of Domestics keep our buildings clean and tidy and provide a great service to patients, visitors and staff. You could be cleaning a hospital ward, patient bedroom or office areas and corridors.
Because we provide services to the NHS, your work supports better patient care. It's important work, and you will need to take pride in what you do and complete tasks to a high standard.
If you are in a community building, you will be working alongside patients who have mental health illnesses, learning disabilities, or brain injuries. You could be cleaning their rooms and the shared areas on the ward. You will get to know them and the clinical staff, and you'll feel part of the team. It can be challenging working on wards like these, but our staff find it rewarding.
Main duties of the job
1. Carrying out a range of cleaning tasks in areas such as offices, corridors, shared spaces on wards, bedrooms, and bathrooms.
2. Cleaning tasks include dusting walls, ceilings, curtain rails, furniture, and paintwork, hoovering carpets, mopping floors.
3. Following instructions and routine work schedules to carry out duties often without supervision.
4. Working respectfully, caring, and compassionately alongside patients.
5. Using equipment and cleaning products safely, adhering to COSHH regulations.
6. Understanding and adhering to infection prevention and control rules.
7. Completing paperwork such as quality checks and other documentation.
8. Assisting with cleaning audits, surveys, and inspections.
9. Participating in training and staying updated with company communications.
10. Working respectfully to support equality, diversity, and inclusion.
11. Demonstrating company values: caring, compassionate, respectful, honest, and transparent.

Pay: Band A (£12.36 per hour)
We pay a 25% enhancement (time and a quarter) for hours worked during Saturdays and Sundays.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of cleaning procedures and COSHH regulations.
* Must meet the mobility requirements of the post.
Qualifications
* NVQ 2 in Domestic Cleaning or willingness to work towards it.
Experience
* Previous cleaning experience.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post requires a DBS check due to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975.
Annual salary: £23,615 per annum (if applicable).
