Key Responsibilities of an HLTA
As an HLTA, you will:
 6. Deliver whole-class learning activities under the direction of a qualified teacher
 7. Support pupils with diverse needs, fostering independence and engagement
 8. Assist in lesson planning, curriculum delivery, and pupil assessment
 9. Manage classroom behaviour and implement individual behaviour plans
 10. Collaborate with external agencies and support school trips and enrichment activities
 11. Provide specialist support in areas such as speech therapy, literacy, or SEN
 12. Mentor other support staff and contribute to staff development
What We're Looking For in an HLTA
 13. HLTA qualification or equivalent (e.g. NVQ Level 3)
 14. Minimum of 2 years' experience in a teaching or learning support role
 15. Strong literacy and numeracy skills
 16. Ability to work independently and manage whole-class responsibilities
 17. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
 18. Knowledge of the national curriculum and relevant learning strategies
 19. Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
Ideal HLTA Candidates Will Also Demonstrate:
 20. Confidence in managing challenging behaviour
 21. Experience with IEPs and individual learning plans
 22. Familiarity with ICT tools to support learning
 23. A flexible, proactive, and team-oriented approach
 24. A passion for inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
