Student Support Mentor – SEN School - Location: [Insert Location] - Full-Time | Term-Time Only - Salary: [Insert Salary Range] About the Role We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Student Support Mentor to join a specialist SEN school. This is a highly rewarding role supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. As a Student Support Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement in learning, helping them to build confidence, resilience, and independence. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring support to pupils with SEN/SEMH needs Support students with emotional regulation using de-escalation and trauma-informed approaches Build strong, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, understood, and supported Work closely with teaching staff to support engagement in learning and classroom activities Promote positive behaviour strategies and support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning Contribute to safeguarding, wellbeing, and pastoral support across the school What We’re Looking For Experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEN, SEMH, or a care/support setting A calm, empathetic and patient approach Strong behaviour management and communication skills Ability to build positive relationships with vulnerable learners A genuine passion for supporting students’ emotional and social development What We Offer A supportive and nurturing school environment Ongoing training in SEN, safeguarding and behaviour support The opportunity to make a meaningful, lasting impact on pupils’ lives Clear progression pathways within SEN and pastoral support roles All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
