Job Title: Vessel Fitter
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Vessel Fitter to join a large steel fabricator specializing in vessels and heat exchangers. You will be responsible for taking blueprints and drawings to layout and fit up fabricated parts to the vessel shell, including layout vessels, shell take-offs, burning shells, fitting nozzles and internals, and fitting carbon steel ranging from 1/4" to 2" thick. Your expertise will be crucial in passing fit-up inspections with minimal oversight.
Responsibilities
* Interpret and utilize blueprints, isometric drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and schematics for pipe and fabrication.
* Execute layout and fitting of materials using industrial hand tools.
* Perform welding and tack welding tasks.
* Conduct fit-up inspections with minimal supervision.
* Burn shells and fit nozzles and internals with precision.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure the accuracy and quality of fabricated parts.
Essential Skills
* Minimum of 5 years fabrication experience.
* At least 3 years of vessel fitting experience.
* Proficiency in reading blueprints, isometric drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and schematics.
* Expertise in using industrial hand tools for layout and fit-up material.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Experience in pipe fitting and tack or welding.
* Proficiency in flux core welding, saddle fits, and miter bends.
* Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
* Experience working at Brask or Southern Heat Exchanger.

Work Environment
Work in a medium-sized vessel shop with an open-air environment. Engage in tasks around large vessels and heat exchangers with a strong focus on safety, honesty, and integrity. Be part of a team of approximately 20 employees on the day shift and 8 on the night shift. The dress code includes steel toes, jeans, work shirt, safety glasses, and hard hat. Day shift runs from Monday to Friday, 7:00am-5:00pm, with potential Saturday hours from 7:00am-4:00pm. The schedule includes working 49 hours per week, increasing to 58 hours when Saturdays are included.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
