The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and driven Technical & Engineering Manager to join our Pre‑Construction team. You will be the technical point of contact across disciplines, overseeing design development from planning through to build completion, ensuring compliance, quality, and value for money.
This is a pivotal role where you will influence the design and delivery of high‑quality homes across our portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
* Lead and manage design and regulatory approval processes across multiple schemes.
* Provide technical input into design briefs and reviews, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and business standards.
* Define scopes of work, procure external consultants, and oversee fee appointments.
* Support the Technical Team Manager with document control systems and strategic design approaches.
* Coordinate engineering briefs, utilities, and civil engineering resolutions.
* Support site teams with buildability queries and maintain change control.
* Oversee procurement of building control and warranty services.
* Manage planning condition discharges, sectional agreements, and utilities processes.
* Contribute to design team meetings, CPD, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensure health & safety and CDM compliance throughout all technical activities.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* HND (Level 5) in design, construction, or civil engineering.
* Experience as a Pre‑Construction/Design Manager in volume housebuilding.
* Strong knowledge of building regulations, warranty standards, CDM Regulations, and project management.
* Proven ability to discharge planning conditions and secure technical approvals.
* Experience procuring consultants, utilities, building control, and warranties.
* Strong IT, communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
