The M&E Manager will coordinate with other departments and key sub-contractors to maintain operational excellence.What you'll do1.Pre-Construction & Design CoordinationReview M&E drawings, specifications, employers requirements and tenant briefsCoordinate M&E design with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplinesIdentify clashes and buildability issues using drawings/BIM where applicableAssist with value engineering and alternative technical proposalsConfirm statutory requirements (Building Regulations, HTM, fire strategy, energy standards)2. Procurement & Commercial SupportPrepare M&E scopes of works and tender packagesAssist with tender evaluation and subcontractor selectionReview M&E contractor approvals, method statements and programmesSupport cost control, change management and variation assessmentsEnsure equipment and materials meet specification and lead-time requirements3.Construction Phase ManagementManage and coordinate M&E subcontractors on siteEnsure installation works align with design, programme and quality standardsSequence works with main contractor and fit-out trades (ceilings, partitions, joinery)Chair and attend M&E coordination meetingsMonitor progress against programme and resolve site issues proactively4. Quality Control & ComplianceInspect M&E installations for workmanship and specification complianceEnsure compliance with:Building RegulationsBritish Standards / CIBSE / BESA / NICEICFire and life safety requirementsCoordinate inspections, testing and witness commissioning activitiesManage snagging and ensure defects are closed out5. Health, Safety & Environmental ResponsibilitiesEnsure M&E works comply with CDM requirementsReview and enforce RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)Monitor site safety, permits to work, isolation procedures and safe systemsCoordinate temporary services and safe commissioning procedures6. Testing, Commissioning & HandoverPlan and manage M&E testing and commissioning activitiesEnsure systems are fully operational (HVAC, lighting, power, fire alarm, BMS, security)Review test certificates and commissioning recordsCoordinate client demonstrations and trainingCompile and review O&M manuals, asset registers and warranties7. Client & Stakeholder LiaisonAct as primary point of contact for M&E mattersAttend client, consultant and progress meetingsProvide clear technical advice and reportingSupport client sign-off and practical completion8.
