At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for both civil and military aircraft.
Our new Maintenance Engineer will join a small & friendly team working effectively and efficiently on breakdowns and repairs. The team handles planned scheduled maintenance and all associated tasks on both conventional and CNC machine tools and plant. This is a permanent role. The successful applicant will work night shifts (7pm-7am) on a 17-week rota:
* 17 weeks of Wednesday - Friday & every other Saturday
* 17 weeks of Sunday - Tuesday & every other Saturday (3 on - 4 off, 4 on - 3 off)
The night shift has an additional 38% shift allowance for the first 35 hours, and 58% for anything extra paid in addition to the basic salary.
How You'll Contribute
In this role, you will maintain and diagnose faults on:
* Machine tool/plant including axes, motors, gearboxes, lead screws, bearings
* Machine guarding
* Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
* Checking and topping up oils, fault finding & diagnostics
Machine alignments by:
* Checking and correction of alignments using various methods
* Correction by changing CNC parameters and testing
Plant maintenance includes CNC milling machines, lathes, gear cutters, jig borers, robots, conveyors, coolant systems, etc.
Knowledge of machine tools electrically, machine parameters, diagnostics, calibration programs, disconnecting pumps & motors, resetting trip & fuses, with experience in maintaining 4/5 axis CNC milling machines is required.
Desirable skills include experience in a similar maintenance lead role, previous night shift work, IOSH/NEBOSH qualifications, and leadership skills.
