Role: Health, Safety and Environment Manager

Salary: up to GBP 65,000 per annum, DOE, GBP 5,500 car allowance, bonus, PHC and 25 days holiday.

Due to recent and significant upcoming investment, we are seeking a strong Health, Safety and Environment professional to sit within the senior leadership team, drive safety excellence and manage 3 direct reports. Reporting directly to the Head of HSE with a dotted line to the Site Plant Manager.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Be the expert on site, able to deal with complex situations and take ownership of outcomes and deliverables both in role and as a leader.
2. Facilitate change and be involved in diverse projects to improve safety and behaviours at the site, dealing with technical complexity.
3. Play a key role in upcoming strategic and investment projects at the site.
4. Support the implementation of company HSE policies and embed ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 18001 standards.
5. Conduct risk profiling and management based on site risk assessments, including fire safety, machinery safety, DSEAR, and maintenance.
6. Engage, communicate, and be proactive and visible on the shop floor to support improvements in health, safety, environment, behaviours, and culture.
7. Develop and implement procedures to ensure legal compliance, involving strategy change and growth projects.
8. Build capabilities through coaching and engagement to foster a positive safety culture.
9. Track HSE performance indicators and compliance data, develop annual strategic plans for continuous improvement, and maintain legal compliance.
10. Prioritize site loss opportunities and manage HSE and facilities budgets and capital allocations.
11. Take initiative, be energetic, and influence as a member of the leadership team, handling complex situations as a site expert.
12. Manage outsourced services, regulatory bodies, customers, and auditors related to safety and environment.
13. Work proactively with internal and external project managers and contractors.
14. Be a key member of the site leadership team and regional HSE team in the UK.
15. Support HR and Training functions, and EHW Manager with occupational health issues.
16. Maintain daily contact with operational colleagues.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
* Strong manufacturing experience, preferably in food, drink, dairy, paper, packaging, bakery, or tobacco industries.
* Proven management experience with coaching and mentoring skills.
