An opportunity to join the management team at Burgess Hill Town Council has arisen as the current Head of Finance & Corporate Services has advised his intention to retire this autumn.
We are looking for a committed individual to lead the Finance and Corporate Services team whose responsibilities include the Councils finance function, management of the burial ground, IT systems and administration of three arms-length companies namely the Sidney West CIO, Burgess Hill Community Partnership CIC and Beehive CIO
The successful candidate will play a key role supporting the Chief Executive to undertake the Responsible Financial Officer role, while running the busy team. The candidate will deputise for the Chief Executive as Proper Officer, in her absence. The role calls for a candidate who has:
· A sound financial background preferably in a local government environment and holds an appropriate qualification.
· Leadership and Management skills, the proven ability to delegate, work under pressure and be flexible;
· Highly motivated with a positive frame of mind, a willingness to challenge the status quo, embrace change, and have clear commercial awareness;
· A proven track record of facilities management, operational management, and customer focussed service delivery
· An articulate, confident and resilient personality, able to motivate and influence team members through to Councillors.
