About the Role
NTU researchers are globally recognised leaders in freshwater ecology. We are recruiting a Research Assistant to contribute to a collaborative project with the Environment Agency and the charity WildFish. The project aims to advance understanding of how aquatic invertebrate communities respond to human pressures in dynamic ecosystems, focusing on winterbourne chalk streams.
Responsibilities
* Analyse collated ecological data to characterise community responses to environmental variation.
* Calculate indices representing community health and model index responses to environmental drivers.
* Evaluate the capacity of each index to distinguish responses to natural environmental variation and human pressures.
* Produce scientific papers and present findings to stakeholders.
* Participate in stakeholder meetings to strengthen professional networks.
Qualifications
* Scientific understanding of river ecosystems.
* Experience with advanced modelling approaches to analyse ecological datasets.
* Degree in ecology, biology, environmental science or a related field.
* Strong analytical and statistical skills.
* Willingness to collaborate with external partners.
