Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist – Skipton Ward South West Yorkshire Partnership (SWYP) Foundation Trust is recruiting a consultant psychiatrist for the female medium secure inpatient service (Skipton Ward) at Cheswold Park Hospital, Doncaster, DN5 8AR. The role offers 10 programmed activities per week, including on-call, with part-time considered. The closing date is 29 May 2026. Interview date 9 June 2026. Permanent full‑time, based in Yorkshire with potential relocation package.
Main duties The consultant will provide comprehensive forensic psychiatric care for a 12‑bed female medium secure ward, covering mental illness and personality disorder service lines. Responsibilities include clinical assessment, treatment planning, multidisciplinary team leadership, and contributing to service improvement and audit.
Key qualifications
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
Fully registered with the GMC and licensed to practise at appointment
Included on the GMC Specialist Register for Forensic Psychiatry, or within six months of gaining
Approved clinician status and S12 compliance within three months
In good standing with GMC regarding warnings and conditions
Valid UK driving licence
Experience and skills
Experience in forensic psychiatry, mental illness and personality disorders
Strong clinical skills using a bio‑psycho‑social approach
Excellent communication, leadership and team management
Experience in teaching, training and CPD
Evidence of research, audit, service evaluation and improvement
Personal attributes
Emotional intelligence and leadership
Flexible and efficient prioritisation of conflicting demands
Time and resource management
Proactive leadership and problem‑solving
Commitment to appraisal and revalidation
Benefits Salary aligned with point 04 of the consultant pay scale (£123,672 – £150,569). Salary reviewed based on experience. Relocation package may be available for the right candidate. Full NHS benefits, pension and training support.
