The Opportunity: Accounts Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This role plays a key part in supporting day-to-day finance operations, ensuring accurate processing of financial transactions and maintaining strong financial controls.
The successful candidate will thrive in this position if they enjoy working in a structured environment, take pride in accuracy, and adopt a proactive, organised approach to finance administration. Key Responsibilities
* Processing purchase invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring correct coding and authorisation
* Preparing and processing weekly and monthly payment runs
* Reconciling bank accounts and investigating any discrepancies
* Posting journals
* Raising and processing intercompany invoices
* Maintaining accurate supplier records and resolving supplier queries
* Supporting internal and external audits by providing relevant documentation
* Carrying out ad hoc finance duties and administrative tasks to support the wider finance team
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Previous experience in an accounts or finance assistant role
* Good understanding of purchase ledger and basic accounting principles
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Good IT skills, including Excel
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Desirable:
* Experience with accounting software (e.g. Sage, SAP, Oracle or similar)
* Studying or willingness to study towards AAT or similar qualification
* Experience working in a multi‑company or intercompany environment

Salary Range: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum
